I'm doing AV for a small hybrid international human rights conference requiring picture-in-picture sign interpretation, but local providers may be hard. Could VRI work as an alternative, and what would you recommend or suggest for services, et cetera?

Suggested Sorenson as a company providing virtual ASL interpreting services over real-time feeds that can be composited onto displays for picture-in-picture use.
Recommended reaching out to Tucker Dragoo, Jonas, and Robert Sababadi who have experience with remote interpretation workflows using Zoom breakout rooms and NDI feeds piped into production.

14:21All right. Next question comes in from Yeshua Bell from Antigua and Barbuda. Says, I'm doing AV for a small hybrid international human rights conference requiring picture-in-picture sign interpretation, but local providers may be hard. Could VRI work as an alternative, and what would you recommend or suggest for services, et cetera? room yeah there's a couple people in our community that might be able to help i know that uh tucker
14:53dragoo and uh jonas have done some of this where we've had folks come in to zoom breakout rooms and be able to have feeds that got placed over the top uh i believe robert sababadi in poland does this as well on a pretty big level it depends on if you need it for in the room so like when and I've done some of them here, we'll just have one camera parked.
15:18Usually there'll be two because it gets tiring after a while. You'll have two interpreters, one either sitting down and waiting to take place or one on the other side so they could go back and forth. So you're going to have to just do some planning. But if you don't have local folks, I mean, Antigua, I'm not sure how big of a pool of talent you have to be able to do that.
15:39It is a talent. So being able to do it remotely probably sounds like your best bet. but if you're doing in room onto projection displays, you're going to have to figure out a way to get that zoom feed using like zoom ISO or something to push that and pip it over the top. So you got, you definitely have some testing to do. This is,
15:57this is a good place to ask. Uh, but also, um, inside of our discord is, uh, Jonas and Tucker and those guys. So I would reach out to them and Courtney, what do you think? I did do a little research here just while we were talking there, There is a company called Sorenson that does virtual ASL interpreting. So ASL that could come in over a virtual feed that you could put up on a screen on a monitor.
16:24So they do it in real time virtually. So I think it's sorenson.com enterprise slash video remote interpreting or VRI is what they call it. So take a look for it at sorenson.com. Maybe they can provide you with services. I'm sure it's not free. but they may have the interpreters that can handle it for you. They probably do it from their homes and zooming in.
16:51Yeah, the folks when I was helping out, they were all from home, and they just came into a breakout room. So we had an instance for the return. So it was all done in the cloud. There was like seven vMix instances where each interpreter came in, and actually these guys were just doing closed captioning, I believe. That's what they were doing. because yeah in this instance that i'm thinking of it wasn't asl but it'd be the same workflow
17:16where they're able to see and hear program their feed then got piped into another spot in this case we had uh we had to give them urls for their i don't even remember what it was called but there was a feed that they set back in that was unique for that stream so yeah i'm interested to see how this all turns out because the stuff that I've done, it's all been on site. It wasn't a hybrid,
17:43but it sounds like if this is a small international human rights conference that you're not going to get everything you want that you would get with the big, you know, thousand plus people ones. But look up Robert Sababity in either our Discord or on LinkedIn. I'm sure he'll be able to help as well. All right, let's go to the next question. All right, next question comes in from Zach
