THE PANEL'S ANSWER
Craig KadokePANELIST

Notes pay-for upgrade for 32×32 Dante; S-Link plus internal and Dante allows 128×128 patch availability; cool stage box integration.

Jeff FrancisPANELIST

Compact 19-inch rack/desktop mixer with 36 inputs; good for office use; ~$100 cheaper than Yamaha DM3; limited Dante (16×16) without redundancy; customizable but can be volunteer-unfriendly due to layers.

Good addition between CQ and SQ series; competitive with DM3; excellent for conferences with three FX engines and many inputs; fader quality may be a concern.

14:38going around them. I will say this. I think the best choice of what he's doing probably would be some iteration of the acoustic tube and the appropriate box to, I will also say, I hate wearing those things. I wear one five hours a week and I'm currently shopping for something different. I think they're, the thing I don't like about it is you clip it to the back of your shirt

15:01and you turn your head and it rattles. And anyway, you hear all the physical noise. Let's go to the next question, Courtney. Maybe it's just because you're the bonehead, you know, rattles. I've been called a bonehead by many people, Courtney. You're not the first. You won't be the last. Go ahead. What's the next question? All right. Coming in from Douglas Carmichael, A&H released the Q3, or it's QU3 today, which brings the

15:33QU platform to a desktop footprint akin to the Yamaha DM3. What does the panel think? I'm thinking this could be perfect for office use. And he has a link there. Jeff Francis? It's a great little compact mixer. They have the QU3 and the QU3D, which adds Dante. You know, it's a little 19-inch rack space or desktop mixer. 36-in, that's pretty good. I think if you're going to go larger, just plan to go larger.

16:09So, you know, pretty much if you're going beyond 16, you're probably going to want a bigger mixer than this because somewhere down the road you're going to get up into something even more. Much like the Dante on the DM3D, the Yamaha version, it's a limited to 16 by 16 on the Dante port. One thing this does not have that the Yamaha does is a secondary Dante port.

16:34So you cannot run redundant on this console. the S-Link below it is for the whole line of Allen Heath interfaces so you can have stage boxes and things but again you're kind of limited in the number of channels so I don't know how many stage boxes you're going to be connecting to this mixer good for little office use it's you know 100 bucks

16:54cheaper than the Yamaha and if you like Allen Heath style of mixing there you go the mixers this is the the Alan Heath and the digico and that kind of thing is a very customizable setup I find them great if I'm the person using them and I set them up and I'm doing a similar job all the time it's not what I would call as

17:20volunteer friendly because you can get really lost in the layers and custom custom ability of it so it's just a different way of thinking about setting up mixers Go ahead, Ronny. Yes. So I think this is a great addition to their existing lineup. It sits between the CQ series and the SQ series. And lately the SQ series also got a plus addition where they increased the price a little bit

17:58and then included a lot of more plugins, et cetera. So this QU is definitely holding its value towards them. And of course, this is a competitor to the vastly popular Yamaha DM3. So I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade that for an office, but as a conference mixer, definitely. You got a lot of FX engines for small cultural performances. I think it's three different FX engines.

18:37And I'm not sure which one of the FX engines they are using, but there is a lot of inputs. So you have 16 inputs and as I already said, the Dante option. It's a great small mixer. I'm just not sure if the faders are going to be the quality we would look for. But of course the price is something also to discuss in this.
