Which Blackmagic Design hardware includes Resolve Studio and which can be considered a great deal to get Studio 21?

ASKED BY · Eduardo Augustine · PANAMA CITY, PANAMA · 29 SEP 2026 · ▶ 00:47:36

THE PANEL'S ANSWER

Studio comes with all cinema cameras (Pocket, Ursus, Pixis), Resolve keyboards (Speed Editor, Editor Keyboard, Micro Control Panel, Mini Panel, Advanced Panel), and with these items you can often find unused key cards on eBay for cheaper licensing.

Guy CochranPANELIST

Resolve Studio comes with Blackmagic cameras and the Speed Editor ($430); the Speed Editor can be resold on eBay ($179-$250) to offset the $299 studio license cost, making it a cost-effective way to get studio licensing.

47:35So go ahead, Guy, and then Courtney can follow up. All right. Uh, I'm, I used to be a black magic reseller, so I would know all this stuff off the top of my head. But since I haven't been tasked with, uh, ordering SKUs and being up to date with all the latest and greatest and what's bundled, I'm not positive what the lineup besides, um, the speed editor is like 430 bucks and it includes a copy.

47:58So that would probably be your best entry level. If you don't need the speed editor, then you could just sell that on eBay. And now you've got the license for hopefully less than what it would cost. Cause I think it's two 99 for the, uh, studio license. Uh, eBay is what I would recommend is just, I just went and searched and they run about one 79 to two 50.

48:16So you're saving a few bucks and tax. Uh, but there's probably people in this community that have one. Uh, I mean, maybe in chat, somebody will be like, Oh yeah, one of those came with my cinema camera a few years ago. and I don't need it, or some people have five of those cameras and only needed one license. So you might find somebody in the community that already has one.

48:36Courtney? Yeah, it does come with all the cameras, all the cinema cameras, where you need to create LUTs, you know, to color your camera, et cetera. The pocket cinema camera, the cinema camera, the URSAs, the Pixis, any of those. Also, any of their keyboards that are designed for Resolve, The Resolve speed editor, like Guy was talking about, their Resolve editor keyboard with the colored keycaps.

49:03The also micro control panel, the Resolve micro control panel, and the mini panel, and the advanced panel. So any of the DaVinci Resolve control panels, you know, also include the card. And so if you find somebody that's bought a bunch of them, a bunch of cameras, like Guy was saying, they'll probably have the little key card that it ships with, which gives you your unlock key.

49:28So they might have some you can buy on eBay cheaper. Next question. From Douglas Carmichael. It says, when you're using Claude, do you sometimes wish you could clone a conversation as you work and create a branch? It remembers. You know, I find that extremely annoying. So I don't. Does anyone else have experience with that? I kind of hate that branch thing. Like maybe it's just antithetical to the way that I work.

50:02But for those who haven't seen it, it's, you know, you get the response and it's on the far left. It says, you know, create a new branch with this response. Anyone at all? If not, I don't really have a good answer there. Anyone? Going once, going twice? All right, we'll skip it. Next question. Comes in once again from Panama City, Panama, Eduardo Augustine.
