After Hours Meters

After Hours displays audio meters so that participants can reach a more consistent audio level with the other participants, which leads to a better listening experience.

You’ll normally see “–” or a number followed by “LUFS” in the top left corner of one of the displays and we normally aim for a value around -24. The closer the number is to 0, the louder the audio level.

These meters can be controlled by chat message though, so if you want larger meters, more in the style of the Waves Audio Meters (which we used for a long time before) you can send this chat message :

/meters

That will show the different meters for 10 seconds. To show them for a different period of time (between 5 seconds and 5 minutes, include the time like this :

/meters 5s
/meters 2m

(You can only use one type of unit, so you’ll need to express one and a half minutes as 90s)

If you want to return the meters to normal earlier than requested, use :

/meters resume

There are several different meter styles to choose from, although most of these are experimental and may not be properly formatted :

/meters waves
/meters simple
/meters simple charts
/meters gauge
/meters compact
/meters radar
/meters billboard
/meters split
